About Kardia May

Hi, I'm Jen, the person behind Kardia May!

Kardia May is a small, independent jewellery brand based in Melbourne, Australia, creating one-of-a-kind sterling silver pieces using the lost wax method.

My jewellery-making journey started in 2022 when I attended my first workshop. A few years later, I decided to buy my own tools and start making jewellery from home. Since then, I've continued developing my skills through workshops, online courses and plenty of experimenting along the way.

Earlier this year, I headed overseas, taking my jewellery-making tools and supplies with me. I spent the next few months creating pieces in different places, often working with whatever space I had available. Now I'm back in Melbourne, continuing to create and develop new designs for Kardia May.

The Jewellery

Every piece starts with wax, which I carve, shape or build up by before it's cast in solid 925 sterling silver. It's a process that allows me to experiment with different shapes and textures, creating jewellery that feels a little different from what you'd typically find in stores.

I love organic shapes, interesting textures and the small imperfections that give each piece its own character. No two pieces are ever exactly the same and that's what I love most about making jewellery this way.

I also love incorporating gemstones into my designs, particularly Australian opals. The way their colours shift in different lighting makes every stone unique and I love creating pieces that highlight their natural beauty.

Why Kardia May?

Kardia is the Greek word for heart, which felt like a fitting name for something I've put so much of myself into.

My hope is that you'll find something here that feels a little different, something that feels like you and that you'll reach for time and time again.
